Our Passion

Living in Canada, we strongly felt that there were limited opportunities to purchase authentic matcha in our daily lives.
In Japan, there is wonderful matcha widely available that is carefully cultivated and meticulously produced by family-run small and medium-sized businesses with a long history and tradition. However, many of them are unable to share their wonderful product with customers overseas.

“We want to deliver truly good matcha in the right way.”
With this in mind, we started a business to connect customers in Canada directly with reliable tea farmers and tea companies in Japan and introduce them to truly authentic matcha.

Current Issues

  1. Authentic matcha is not available.
-In North America, there are many products labeled as “matcha”, but most are powdered green tea or low-quality products, making it difficult to experience the true aroma and flavour of matcha.
  2. Limited distribution channels for small-scale tea farmers.
-Despite producing high-quality matcha, small-scale producers face challenges in expanding their distribution channels due to difficulties in entering overseas markets.

Our Mission

Delivering value

We aim to import carefully selected products such as high-quality matcha, unique flavour matcha, and organic matcha.

Promoting authentic matcha culture

Spreading matcha not just as a “health food”, but as a “culture and experience”.

Serving as a bridge between producers and consumers

Sharing the stories of matcha cultivated by Japanese small and medium-sized businesses while expanding new markets in Canada.

    ️Future Vision

Our goal is not simply to be a “matcha importer and wholesaler.”
We aim to become a trusted name in Canada as the go-to source for authentic matcha.
We seek to collaborate with Japanese tea farmers and tea companies to build matcha culture in Canada.

In the future, we plan to establish experiential spaces (tea rooms and tasting labs) centered around matcha and Japanese tea, aiming to share culture beyond mere product sales.
We aspire to be a brand that bridges Japan and Canada closer together through these shared experiences.

    About the Owner

The name and logo of Mori Matcha reflects my personal vision and roots.
My name is Keiya Morikawa and I incorporated the word “Mori” (forest) from my family name into the brand name and used my 'Morikawa' family crest in the logo.
This is not merely a design, but a symbol representing my family roots and traditions.

For me, “Mori” signifies the heart that inherits Japan's nature and culture, while the family crest is a circle with an eagle’s feather, symbolizing strength and victory. During the Edo period, the eagle feather crest was widely used in rural and samurai households. The crossing of the feathers and outer circle symbolizes “cooperation, harmony, and bonding”.
It is a strong and highly auspicious crest, the perfect representation of Mori Matcha.

In this new land of Canada, I wish to walk alongside my family, friends, customers, and everyone I encounter, strengthening the bonds between us and connecting us through matcha culture.I have entrusted this vision to my family name and crest.

The matcha we handle is the height of the efforts passed down through generations by Japanese tea farmers and tea companies. Delivering their sincerity and craftsmanship to many people here in Canada is my mission and my joy.
